Common Questions
Q: My pedal isn’t powering on. What should I check first?
Make sure you’re using a 9V DC center-negative power supply (standard for most effects). If the LED doesn’t light, test another supply or cable. Fuzzes that use a 9V DC center-positive power supply will be labeled everywhere for this, however most have been phased out due to the inclusion of polarity reversing circuitry!
Q: The effect sounds weak or noisy.
Check your cables and power source first. If you’re using a daisy chain, try isolating the pedal on a clean, regulated power output. For analog pedals, placement in your signal chain can also affect tone — try moving it before or after certain effects.
Q: Can I run my pedal at 18V?
Only if it’s specifically rated for 18V operation. Running higher voltage may damage components. Refer to the product’s manual for safe operating voltages. Certain models like the Channel A and Forte Fatale are designed with internal circuitry that creates the same split voltage arrangement regardless of what voltage your power supply is set to, so 12V or 18V is not needed!
Q: What is the process for ensuring reliable tube amplifier usage regarding speakers?
Make sure you’re using a 9V DC center-negative power supply (standard for most effects). If the LED doesn’t light, test another supply or cable. Fuzzes that use a 9V DC center-positive power supply will be labeled everywhere for this, however most have been phased out due to the inclusion of polarity reversing circuitry!
